March News - Eye Level of Morrisville

March 10th, 2014

Dear Eye Level Parents,

Spring is on the horizon and hopefully we have left the bad weather behind us for good!!

Here is our next tip from our Eye Level manual.

TIP of the Month: Analyze Your Reading! Standardized tests are always full of critical thinking, comparing and linking questions. When reading, don’t just have your kids identify the basic who, what, when, where, why and how. Encourage your kids to take their reading to the next level by posing questions that will help them fully comprehend the material and reinforce critical thinking for testing.

  1. Center Administrator: We are excited to have Scherria Hairston join us as a Center Administrator. Her education is from NC Central University, majoring in Education and Business. For her day job, she works with Aflac. She will be focusing on the children’s progress at our center along with all the administrative functions. She can also handle the classes in case of teacher absences. In the coming days, she will be talking to each one of you to know you better and plan for your child. Please welcome her and help her in helping us all.

  2. New Teacher: We are still looking for a replacement for Tamara and have had some strong leads but yet to be finalized. We hope this happens in the next two weeks. If you know of any good teachers in your child’s school looking for a part time job, please pass the message.

  3. Schedule Change or Make up Classes – In the coming week, Scherria will be introducing some forms for schedule changes and make up classes. These forms are to be filled if you are planning for a schedule change or make up class for your child. We will make these forms available online or email it to you. This will help us ensure that we have the necessary space to accommodate your child in case of makeup or schedule changes.

  4. Eyelevel-Library- Please encourage kids to pick up and read books while they are waiting for their classes. If there is a specific interest in books by certain authors, please let me know and I will try to find them for you. If you need to check out a book, please sign your name in the sign up book along with the book title or come see us and we will do it for you.

  5. Communication: Please do keep the communication lines open with the Teacher and us regarding the child’s progress. This will help us make changes if needed and also keep the child’s interest and motivation up.

  6. Noise Level: Parents, Please observe silence during the wait times. We want to reduce distractions and make sure that the kids can focus on the material.

  7. Referrals & Referral Checks: Please refer your friends to Eyelevel and be our ambassadors. Again, a big Thank You for all your referrals.

  8. Fee Due Date: Monthly Dues are always due on the 1st of every month and late by the 5th. Please pay on time. Many of you have scheduled your payments through your Banks Bill Pay option. Thank you for reducing our administrative work. If you are one of those on the fence, here is the address to do the same and automate it now,
